Course objective The aim of this course is to give students detailed information on the ultrastructure of the interphase nucleus, the structure of DNA, histon proteins, the formation of nucleosome, chromatin, chromatid and chromosomal organisation, heterochromatin and euchromatin, morphology of chromosomes, polyten and lamb brush chromosomes, the structures of centromere, satellite and telomer, and the structure and formation of nucleolus.
Course description This course includes detailed theoretical information about DNA, chromatin and chromosomes and describes how DNA is packaged to form chromosomes.

1 The ultrastructure of interphase nucleus
2 The structure and characteristics of DNA
3 Histon proteins and their characteristics
4 The structure and formation of nucleosome
5 Chromatin structure; Heterochromatin and Euchromatin
6 Packaging of DNA; nucleosome, chromatin, chromatid and chromosomal organisation
7 Morphology of chromosomes and the structures of centromere, satellite, telomere, secondary constriction in chromosomes
