Course contents
1 Genetically modified (transgenic) plant production and aims; Plant biotechnology and genetically related to the basic concepts and definitions.
2 Transgenic plant production techniques;Classical selection breeding and hybridization, cloning.
3 Transgenic plant production techniques;Cloning; protoplast fusion, Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer.
4 Transgenic plant production techniques;Cloning; Gene guns, chloroplast engineering.
5 Transgenic plant production techniques;Antisense technology, gene silencing.
6 Discussion in terms of pharmacy of transgenic plants; Useful herbal product properties.
7 Transgenic plants used as food; Useful herbal product properties.

1 Explain the effect of biotechnology on agricultural industry.
2 It transfers the limitations of classical hybrid breeding, a way of developing new crops.Explains the reasons of plants to be suitable for genetic engineering.
3 List some methods used in plant gene transfer techniques.Describes antisense technology and explains the usage of plant biotechnology.
4 Discuss the herbs and plants in the future.
5 Define biosafety and biodiversity concepts.
6 Define bioethics and explain its relationship with biotechnology.
