Mode of delivery The topics in the unit are carried out by the academic staff of the relevant department. The module includes the second five-week part of the fall semester of the 2nd year. The module is processed 21 hours a week and in five weeks. The theoretical part of the course is covered with interactive education methods and visual materials in the classrooms.
Course objective The objectives of this module are as follows; • To be able to explain the nursing process, • To count the ways of drug application, • To explain injection application techniques, • To explain parenteral nutrition (TPN), • To be able to explain the importance of using informatics applications in nursing process, • To be able to explain which test is used in which type of blood sample, • To be able to list ways of protection from hospital infections, • To be able to explain how to ensure hand hygiene.
Course description This module consists of a unit. The module includes nursing process and daily life activities, injection application techniques, drug administration routes, parenteral nutrition, use of informatics applications during nursing process, blood structure and serum / plasma difference, protection from hospital infections and hand hygiene.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
1 Plans, implements and evaluates nursing care in line with the nursing process.
2 Plans, implements and evaluates nursing care in line with the nursing process over a given case.
3 Explain the use of informatics applications in the nursing process.
4 Knows the ways of administering intravenous drugs and the principles to be considered in intravenous drug administration.
5 Explains total parenteral nutrition and its principles.
6 Applies IV drug/fluid administration and blood sampling according to Basic Nursing Skills Learning Guide steps.
7 Knows the application sites and makes injection applications, taking into account the pharmaceutical properties of drugs.
8 Applies injection practices according to the Basic Nursing Skills Learning Guide steps.
9 Explains which test is being studied on which type of blood sample and what needs to be done.
10 Explains prevention from hospital infections, waste management, personnel injury and hand hygiene.
