Dersin Amacı	To give students an idea about the actors, political ideologies, periods and fundamental turning points of the Ottoman political life and to gain a historical perspective on current political and social developments.
Dersin Tanımı	This course focuses on the Ottoman political and social life in the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as the change and evolution of political thoughts. In this course, the Ottoman Turkish Constitutional, political and administrative system; development of political culture; electoral systems, role of political parties, non-governmental organizations; public opinion will also be emphasized. In addition, the evolution of Ottoman-Turkish political life from the 19th century to the present and the changes experienced are among the subjects of the course. In the process of modernization, Ottoman Political Life, political thoughts (Islamism, nationalism, feminism, liberalism, socialism), political institutions (parliament, elections, military coups), state-society relations, non-governmental organizations, the transition from the Empire to the Republic, elections will also be emphasized.
