Course objective In order to direct chemistry students to interdisciplinary studies this course aims to teach students the basic application methods of biology.For this purpose, students will be able to comprehend the cells and tissues of plants and animals and the physiological events that occur in biological organisms.
Course description Laboratory safety and working rules, laboratory notebook and report preparation,Introduction of laboratory devices and materials, Microscope introduction, maintenance and use,measuring under a microscope,Preparation preparation techniques, Sectioning, section types, Cell staining techniques, Examination of Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic cells, Comparison of plant and animal cells, Examination of cytoplasmic movements in the cell, Examination of macromolecules in cells (determination of proteins, fats and sugars), Examination of plastids in plant cells, Examination of starch grains and crystal structures in plant cells, Mitosis cell division

Learning outcomes of the course unit
1 Students learn to use a microscope.Understands the distinctive features of plant and animal cells.
2 It can distinguish animal tissues from each other and recognize the structure of each tissue. Understand the phases of mitosis division, they can examine onion root tip cells and recognize different stages.
3 Understands the structure and functions of blood cells. They can recognize protozoa. have information about their biology.
4 Recognize endoparasites seen in vertebrate animals.
5 Recognizes the insect orders and can distinguish between different groups of insects.
6 Understand the anatomical, morphological, physiological and ecological features of the earthworm.
7 Recognizes the anatomical morphological and physiological features of a bony fish and has basic knowledge about fish breeding.
8 Understands the mechanism of the osmosis event and learns the mechanisms of water movements in living and environments.
9 Gains basic knowledge about starch grains and can recognize starch grains in different plant seeds and understand the importance of starch.
10 Comprehend the chromoplasts in plants, their locations and duties.
