Course objective To gain skill and experience in basic level about identification, assessing and farming forage grass species
Course description The place of grass forges in Turkey and World, their importance in agricultural systems, animal feding, soil and water protection and soil reclamation. The utilization, botanical characteristics, soil and climate requirements, seeding, fertilization, irrigation, weed and pest control, seed production, harvest and storage subjects of forage grasses including wheatgrass, ryegrass, bromegrass, orchardgrass, fescuegrass, bluegrass and silage maize

1 Introduction of Gramineae family and differences between grasses and legumes
2 General characteristics, and ecological and physiological prenciples of grasses
3 Wheatgrass species (Agropyron sp) and crested wheatgrass (A. cristatum)
4 Tall wheatgrass (A. elongatum)
5 Intermediate wheatgrass (A. intermedium)
6 Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon)
7 Avena, Hordeum, Koeleria and Agrostis species
8 Ryegrass species (Lolium perenne and L. multiflorum)
9 Orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata)
10 Smooth bromegrass (Bromus inermis)
11 Tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) and other fescues
12 Silage plants and silage maize (Zea mays)
13 Panicoideae subfamily
