Course objective The objective of this course is to teach the student the theoretical aspects of metabolism.
Course description This course includes the metabolic events that occur in the organism.

Course contents
1 Metabolism terms, reactions of metabolism
2 Citric acid cycle and formation of energy
3 Citric acid cycle and formation of energy
4 Carbohydrate metabolism, digestion and absorption
5 Glucose metabolism
6 Glucose metabolism
7 Other monosaccarides and metabolism of volatile fatty acids in ruminants
8 Protein metabolism, digestion of protein
9 Absorption of peptides and aminoacids
10 Decarboxilation and transamination of aminoacids
11 Deamination and formation of urea
12 Lipid metabolism, absorption of lipid
13 Fatty acids and metabolism of lipids
14 Fatty acids and metabolism of lipids

Learning outcomes of the course unit
1 Student defines; metabolism, metabolic reactions and explain the terms.
2 Student knows organic matter in energy metabolism and learn hormonal regulation in the energy metabolism
3 Student explains the metabolism of carbohydrates.
4 Student explains lipid metabolism.
5 Student explains protein metabolism.
6 Student learns; carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism between their metabolic relationships.
