Course objective In this lesson general informations about description and history of anesthesia,terminology used in anesthesia,operation room and operating principles,ethical and legal rules, introduction of anesthesia machines and circuits,protection of anesthesia machines,definition and description of postanesthesia care unit,description of all materials used in the operating room,consept of risk in anesthesia,endotracheal intubation,patient monitoring,premedication,keeping anesthesia records and the importance of record keeping in anesthesia, are described to the students.
Course description General principles about anesthesia and reanimation are described.

Course contents
1 Description and history of anesthesia,terminology used in anesthesia.
2 Operation room and operating principles,teamwork in the operating room,ethical and legal rules.
3 Introduction of anesthesia machines and circuits,protection of anesthesia machines.
4 Anesthesia machine and its sections.
5 Anesthesia machine and its sections.
6 Identifying the risk of anesthesia(ASA classification,cardiac risk index of Goldman).
7 Patient monitoring(NON INVASIVE).
8 Patient monitoring(INVASIVE).
9 Endotracheal intubation.
10 Endotracheal intubation indications in operating room or outside the operating room.
11 The difficult intubation,reasons,diagnostic criteria and difficult airway management.
12 Extubation.
13 Extubation in patients who have been intubated difficult.
14 Keeping anesthesia records and the importance of record keeping in anesthesia.
15 Physical properties of reanimation.
16 Working principles in reanimation.
17 Properties of drugs and equipments used in reanimation.

1 Learn the terminology used in anesthesia
2 Learn teamwork and communication in the operating room.Learn about ethical principles and legal responsibilities.
3 Recognize the anesthesia machine and learn its usage
4 Assess the preparation of patients for surgery and anesthesia risk
5 Learn the airway management and learns what to do in the difficulties associated with the airway
