Learning outcomes of the course unit
Improving knowledge of biochemical effect of some used drugs and chemicals on the nutrients, applying of these knowledge on nutritional programme of patients.
The importance of absorption (both for drugs and nutrients) during therapy, especially critical impacts for medications applied via oral route will be evaluated.
The students will work on interactions at biotransformation level, with special emphasis on inhibitors and inducers of drug metabolizing enzymes (esp. common/important examples).
Drug interaction examples encountered during excretion will be understood.
The students will deal with food-drug interaction samples and practice on case studies.
The students will learn the interactions between drugs and herbal/other products, and the underlying mechanisms.
