Course objective To get to know Turkish and Anatolian mythology, to see its effects on cultural and social life, to strengthen the material and spiritual values ​​between the past and present, present and future.
Course description Turkish and Anatolian Mythology; Although the Turks have different variations with the influence of this past culture, their homeland from `` Central Asia '''' and `` Anatolia '''' before and after Islam, especially before coming to `` Anatolia '''', the whole of the associated national myths and epics...

Course contents
1 The content of this course; The basic concepts of mythology in general terms, the content and characteristics of Turkish Mythology as well as the main sources related to Turkish Mythology are emphasized.
2 Information was given about the Turkish Epics before Islam, the Epic of Creation from the Altay epics, the Oğuz Khan and Atilla epic from the Hun Epics. In addition, important animals were introduced in Turkish Mythology.
3 Information was given about Göktürk Epics from Turkish Epics before Islam, Bozkurt and Ergenekon Epics were introduced.
4 Uighur epics from Turkish Epics before Islam; Descent and Migration Epics were introduced. In addition, information about Shamanism and Turkish Mythology was given.
5 Information about the important Gods and Goddesses in Turkish Mythology was given.
6 Saka Epics; Information about this and the epic of Alp Er Tunga was given.
7 Information was given about the Post-Islamic Turkish Epics. In addition, information was given about the Motifs and Types in Turkish Mythology-Epics.
8 MID-TERM EXAM Manas Epic has been explained. In addition, information was given about the Motifs and Types in Turkish Mythology-Epics.
9 Information about the Cengizhan Epic was given.
10 Battal Gazi Epic has been narrated. Important colors in Turkish Mythology and their meanings are mentioned.
11 The epic of Danişmend Gazi was narrated.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
1 Information about the concept of mythology and important theories is given. Basic concepts of mythology are taught.
2 Creation myths, ethnogon and eschatology are studied.
3 The relations of mythology with other cultural elements are examined.
4 Mythology''s relations with daily life culture are examined.
5 The features of mythological thought are determined.
6 The general lines of Turkish and Anatolian Mythology as well as the content and characteristics of the main sources related to Turkish Mythology are taught.
7 Information about pre-Islamic Turkish myths is obtained.
8 Information about post-Islamic Turkish myths is obtained.
9 Information is obtained about the folk legends that were formed and continued by the influence of pre-Islamic and post-Islamic Turkish myths in Anatolia.
10 Turkish Myths in Anatolia and their relations with today''s daily life cultures are examined.
