Course objective The aim of the course is to give information about religious history of Turkish, to teach similar, common and different aspects of ancient Turkish religions and introduce them comparatively with regard to beliefs and rituals. Additionally, it is aimed to inform the students about the studies carried out in the world of Islam and Turkey and introduce living folk beliefs of today.
Course description The student acquires the skill to use the concepts of ancient Turkish beliefs properly. S/he develops efficient study methods by being aware of field study problems. S/he understands the connection between ancient Turkish beliefs and Islam. S/he has the knowledge about Shamanism and determines the source of today’s folk beliefs.

1 The students understands the connection of ancient Turkish religions with Shamanism
