Course objective The aim of the course is to give theoretical knowledge about the lipid metabolism
Course description Fatty acids, triglycerids, phospholipids, biosynthesis of the lipids, breaking the lipids, soap, lipid transport, uptake of the lipoproteins by the cells, membrane structure, phospholipids, lipid stocking diseases, phospholipids and signal transduction, prostaglandins, defects in lipid metabolism

Course contents
1 The structure of the fatty acids, saturated fatty acids, not Saturated fatty acids, Essential fatty acids
2 Chemical properties of fatty acids, classification of the lipids
3 Prostaglandins and related compounds, ketone bodies
4 Digestion of lipids in the diet, absorption, secretion and use
5 Plasma lipids, biosynthesis and degradation of lipoproteins
6 Oxidation of Fatty acid and mobilization of storage fat
7 De novo synthesis of fatty acids
8 Presentation of a recent paper
9 Structure, degradation, synthesis of the phospholipids and membrane structure
10 Glycosphingolipids, sphingolipidoses
11 Presentation of a recent paper
12 Structure and synthesis of the cholestrol
13 Steroid hormones
14 Catabolism of the cholestrol, bile acid, bile salt
