Dersi Veren Öğretim Eleman(lar)ı Course Objectives: • To develop understanding of the relationship between language and the processes of the brain and mind. • To develop detailed knowledge of basic sub-fields of psycholinguistics, including: the biological bases of language (language & the brain), speech perception, the lexicon, sentence processing, discourse, speech production and language acquisition. • To examine the methods used in psycholinguistic research and to interpret the types of results these methods have uncovered. • To understand basic language production and perception data and how these data have contributed to the development of the major theories in psycholinguistics. • To introduce and explore the major theories in the area of psycholinguistics. • To explore specific issues in psycholinguistics might be examined experimentally.

Dersin Amacı
Dersin Tanımı Psycholinguistics is an interdisciplinary branch of linguistics which investigates the psychological aspects of language acquisition, production, perceptions and use. As such, it combines knowledge, methods and practices from a variety of fields some of which emerged out of psycholinguistics per se: linguistics, psychology, cognitive science, philosophy, biolinguistics, neurolinguistics, speech pathology and clinical linguistics, etc. The course will outline the basic ideas, theories, terms and methods of psycholinguistics.

1 Psycholinguistics is an interdisciplinary branch of linguistics which investigates the psychological aspects of language acquisition, production, perceptions and use. 1 Develops English literacy, listening-speaking skills at an advanced level. Gains the English language proficiency to be able to express himself effectively in written and oral form in national and international platforms. Works of different genres of English literature; learns the historical, cultural and social context of these works. Learns the structure, features and development of the English language. Gains competence in grammar, phonology, syntax, semantics, stylistics, rhetoric and corpus. Have the knowledge and competence to translate texts from English to Turkish, from Turkish to English at all levels from different fields. Learns the latest information and technologies related to the field. Have the knowledge, skills and competence to practice his profession in the field of English in Turkey and in different countries of the world. Have sufficient knowledge and experience in fields such as linguistics, foreign language teaching, literary criticism and text translation. He has the competence to use the theoretical and applied knowledge he has acquired in related fields. Defines the problems encountered in the fields related to the profession and develops solutions that will meet the expectations in this regard. Gains the ability to cooperate with relevant institutions and develop solutions for the solution of the problems encountered. A sense of professional ethics and responsibility develops. Gains interdisciplinary knowledge and perspective. Thanks to the interdisciplinary courses in the program, he learns the relationship between language and literature studies and other disciplines. Gains the competence to use his interdisciplinary knowledge and experience. Knows Literature and Language Theory. Develops critical and analytical thinking skills. Uses theoretical knowledge and critical experience effectively. Works harmoniously individually and in groups. Gains the ability to develop and implement projects, innovation and R&D studies related to their profession. Develops a comparative research, education and training approach in accordance with universal standards, taking into account cultural differences by using the experience specific to his profession. Have lifelong learning skills and competence in professional and individual fields. Gains knowledge and understanding of environment, race, gender, religion and economic issues in literary culture. It develops awareness that can contribute to the society as knowledge, experience and thought on these issues.

1 1- Bu bölümde lisansüstü ders alan öğrenciler: Güçlü iletişim ve örgütleme becerilerini, kültürlerarası ortamlarda mesleki ve akademik amaçlar çerçevesinde sosyal ve kişisel gelişim için kullanabilirler.
2 2- Metin yorumlama aracı olarak geniş bir disiplinler alanından topladığı bilgiyi birleştirerek yorumları destekleyecek kanıtları bulup kullanabilirler.
3 3- Uluslararası bir toplulukta edebiyat, sanat ve metinsel incelemeler yapabilirler.
4 4- Tarih içinde geliştirilmiş olan farklı dil eğitim yöntemleri hakkında bilgi sahibi olup yöntemlere uygun ders planları ve etkinlikler hazırlayıp uygulayabilirler.
5 5- Farklı dönem ve türlerin tarihi, biçimlerinden hareketle yazınsal söylem çözümlemesi yapabilirler.
6 6- Çeviri uzmanlığı isteyen alanlarda çeviri yetkinliği kazanabilirler.
7 7- Batı kültürünün temelini oluşturan mitoloji, klasik ve neo-klasik sanat anlayışları, Rönesans ve Reformasyon gibi Batı tarihine yön veren olayları rahatlıkla algılayabilirler
8 8- İngilizcenin öğretilmesine etkisi olan eğitim ve psikoloji gibi farklı bilim dalları kapsamında ileri sürülmüş teorileri ve bunların dil eğitimindeki yansımalarını özümseyebilirler.
9 9- Akademik disiplinin tarihi, kuramı ve yöntemlerine ilişkin bilgiyi kullanarak yazınsal metinlerin arka planlarını, yapılarını, anlamlarını ve ayırıcı özelliklerini kavrayarak okuyabilir, yorumlayabilir ve açımlayabilirler.
10 10- Tek tek farklı metinleri tarihsel ve kültürel bağlamlarıyla ilişkilendirebilirler.
11 11- İngilizcenin sesbilimsel, morfolojik, semantik, etimolojik özelliklerini kavrayabilirler. Tarihsel dilbilim, edim-bilim, anlambilim, biçembilim, göstergebilim, ruh-dilbilim ve ilgili alanlarda bilgi sahibi olabilirler.
12 12- İkinci dil edinimi teorilerini ve alandaki sorunları ve çözümlerini kavrayabilirler.
13 13- Edebi terminoloji ve eleştirel yorum yaklaşımları ve yöntemleri konusunda bilgi sahibi olabilirler.
14 14- Açıklayıcı, tartışmacı ya da ikna edici yazım biçimlerini kullanarak bilimsel kurallara uygun çalışma yapabilirler.
15 15- Amerikan edebiyatının dönemleri, yazar ve eserleri hakkında ayrıntılı bilgiye sahip olabilirler. Amerikan edebiyatını, tarihini ve entelektüel arka planını kavrayabilirler.
16 16- Sosyal bilimler alanında çağdaş kuramların ortaya çıkış ve gelişim süreçleri hakkında bilgi edinebilir ve düşünsel artalanlarını genişletebilirler.
17 17- Eleştirel teknikler ve terminolojileri hakkında bilgi sahibi olabilirler ve bu bilgiyi kullanarak edebi metinleri çözümleyebilirler.
18 18- Akademik disiplin içindeki (eğretilemeye duyarlılık, sembollerin yorumu, izleksel gelişmelerin ve derin yapıların fark edilmesi gibi) kavrayış tarzlarını (sinema, televizyon, reklam endüstrisi gibi) diğer alanlara uygulayabilirler.
