Mode of delivery The emphasis of this course will be on theoretical subject. The class meets for three lectures a week, each consisting of 50-minute sessions. In the course, interactive training techniques and various audio-visual materials will be used.
Course objective The aim of the course is to provide students with an understanding of biochemistry of vitamins involving the mechanisms of vitamin action, dietary sources, vitamin chemical stability, bioavailability factors, vitamin deficiency or toxicity, and releated diseases, functions and functions as co-enzymes, etc.

Course contents
1 Introduction, general concepts, definitions, deficiency, determination of vitamin status of the body chemistry, stability and bioavailability.
2 Vitamin A: Biological circulation and metabolism of vitamin A, determination of vitamin A status of the body, functions of vitamin A
3 Vitamin D: Metabolism of vitamin D, calcium homeostasis and vitamin D, determination of vitamin D status of the body, the clinical features of vitamin D
4 Vitamin E: Antioxidant function of vitamin E, vitamin E deficiency, determination of vitamin E status of the body
5 Vitamin K: Vitamin K-dependent proteins of coagulation, vitamin K deficiency, determination of vitamin K status of the body

7 Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2: Metabolic functions of vitamin B1 and B2
8 Niacin (Vitamin B3 or Vitamin PP): Metabolic function of niacin, thiamine and tryptophan deficiencies.
9 Vitamin B6: Metabolic function of vitamin B6.
10 Folic acid (Vitamin B9): Folate absorption, enterohepatic circulation and tissue uptake, deficiency
11 Vitamin B12: Metabolic function of vitamin B12, vitamin B12 deficiency
12 Biotin (Vitamin B8): Metabolic function of biotin, biotin-dependent enzymes
13 Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5): Metabolic function of pantothenic acid.
14 Vitamin C: Vitamin C in xenobiotic metabolism, oxidation and reduction of ascorbate, ascorbate excretion, metabolic function of vitamin C.
