Course objective The aim of this course is to provide students with the importance of communication and communication approaches for problematic patients while providing health services.
Course description This course is a course that includes the approaches given to patients with problems that may be encountered while providing care in health care.

1 Sharing the purpose and objectives of the course
2 Communication in health services
3 Communication with the individual/patient and the meaning of being sick
4 Communication with an individual with hearing, sight, and speech impairment
5 Communication with the bedridden individual
6 Communication with the angry individual
7 Communication with the patient who makes constant requests
8 Communication with the individual with delusions and hallucinations
9 Communication with children and adolescents
10 Communication with the individual diagnosed with oncology
11 Communication with the crying individual
12 Communication with the elderly
13 Communication with the individual whose bodily integrity is impaired

Learning outcomes of the course unit
1 The patient uses therapeutic communication skills while giving care to the individual.
2 Knows the effect of illness on the individual.
3 Knows the communication characteristics of hearing/sight/speech impaired individuals.
4 Explain the effects of being bedridden on the individual.
5 Explains the communication features that should be considered when approaching an angry person, who makes constant demands, whose body integrity is broken, and who cries.
6 Uses effective communication skills in the field of practice while giving care to individuals experiencing delusions and hallucinations.
7 Be able to approach the child according to the childhood developmental periods.
8 Can communicate effectively with the elderly person.
9 Knows the effect of the meanings attributed to cancer disease to adapt to the disease.
10 Establish helpful communication skills with the relatives of the patients who are hospitalized in the intensive care unit, receive treatment in the emergency room, have psychiatric disorders, and are hospitalized in the internal and surgical services.
